Zurich: New plans for Rütihof site
Last year saw the end of the controversial Ringling residential project in Zurich-Höngg. Now the developers and the city of Zurich want to make a new attempt to build on the Rütihof site.

In August 2016, the Federal Court approved the appeal against the planned "Ringling" residential development on the Rütihof site in Zurich-Höngg. The last judicial instance thus put a temporary end to the planning after around ten years. The project, which had emerged from an architectural competition, was too controversial.
Now the city of Zurich wants to develop a new project on the Rütihof site with the existing developers, the Foundation for Retirement Apartments, the Gemeinnützige Bau- und Mietergenossenschaft Zürich (GMBZ) and the Sonnengarten building cooperative. The goal remains the creation of non-profit apartments and the improvement of the neighborhood infrastructure, the city of Zurich says.
New building lease agreements are currently being negotiated. In addition, a participation process is to be launched this year, with the intention of involving the neighborhood population in the development of the planning principles. Based on this, a new architectural competition will be held together with the city.
