As Roger Seifritz, director of Reka, said, the cooperative intends to invest 50 million CHF in the tourism region of Ticino by 2022. This is despite the fact that times are not easy for the Swiss tourism industry at the moment, especially as a result of the strong franc.

In addition to the Parkhotel Brenscino with 92 hotel rooms, Reka manages six vacation resorts in Ticino with 105 apartments in Brissago, Lugano, Gandria, Gerra, Magadino, Ranzo and Sureggio. It also rents out a further 20 vacation accommodations to third parties. In 2016, these offers generated a total of 75,000 overnight stays. Reka employs 128 people in the canton, 40 of them at the Parkhotel Brenscino.

Stefano Rizzi, Head of the Economy Department of the Canton of Ticino, welcomed Reka's planned investments, "which confirm that Ticino is a flagship destination at the national level". The investments would fit well into the economic development strategy that the canton has launched. "Within this framework, concrete infrastructure projects allow to enhance and enrich the tourist offer." Thanks also to long-term initiatives such as "Ticino Ticket" and the opening of the Gotthard Base Tunnel, a positive spiral will thus be triggered, according to Rizzi, which will have an impact on the entire economy in the canton.
