The foundation stone for the first Baloise Park building was laid in Basel on June 15. The 89-meter-high structure is one of three new buildings.

The high-rise building in Baloise Park will in future house a Mövenpick 5-star hotel with 264 rooms. The top seven of a total of 24 floors will be rented out as office space. The building was designed by architects Miller & Maranta, and the total contractor is Steiner AG.

Baloise Park - in the direct vicinity of Centralbahnplatz - includes not only the high-rise building but also the new Group headquarters and another office building with the insurer's training center. A total of 1,300 new office workplaces are being created. A large public square will form the gateway to the redesigned Aeschengraben.

In total, Baloise is investing over CHF 300 million in the site. "Today's laying of the foundation stone continues the tradition of distinctive Baloise buildings in Basel," said Andreas Burckhardt, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Baloise Holding AG, at the laying of the foundation stone.

Construction work on the remaining two buildings is scheduled to begin in early 2018. The building permits have already been issued. All Baloise Park buildings should then be ready for occupancy in 2020.
