Lucerne: City no longer wants to sell land

In Lucerne, municipal land will no longer be allowed to be sold in the future. This was decided by parliament on June 29.

In doing so, Lucerne's parliament has followed the City Council's counter-proposal to the land initiative. The counter-proposal follows the land initiative in that in future land owned by the city of Lucerne can only be handed over in building rights or in exchange for equivalent land.

A sale is now only possible in a few exceptions. For example, the city can sell land if land of equal value was acquired in the previous five years.

The land initiative's demand to set up a land acquisition fund, on the other hand, is not included in the counter-proposal. The reason for this is that in future there will hardly be any book profits from land sales.

The Lucerne electorate will now vote on this counter-proposal to the land initiative.
