Last week, HIAG Immobilien AG celebrated the official start of the first construction phase for its Walzmühle development project in Frauenfeld together with residents, representatives of the city, authorities and partners. Initially, eight terraced single-family lofts, ten loft apartments and commercial space will be built, as well as an underground garage with 66 parking spaces.

The construction project has a volume of CHF 36 million. The planning and approval phase lasted four years. The Sigg company once produced cooking pans and rechauds on the former industrial site. Basel-based HIAG acquired the site from its former owners in 2013.

Initially, demolition work will take place starting in August, with structural engineering work scheduled to start in spring 2018. Stage two of the project, the conversion of the historic Walzmühle building, is scheduled to start in 2019, according to HIAG. The resulting residential units will all be rented out.
