Velux gets new headquarters in Aarburg
Velux Schweiz AG is relocating its headquarters from Trimbach (SO) to Aarburg (AG) as of December 31, 2019. JLL had been commissioned with the search for a location.
In the coming months, a new building complex will be constructed on Bahnhofstrasse in Aarburg, which the manufacturer of roof windows and complementary products will use as an anchor tenant for around 80 percent of the commercial and office space. Velux Schweiz AG has been based in Trimbach in the canton of Solothurn for more than 40 years. According to the JLL consulting team, the cross-cantonal site search, which took around 15 months, was concluded in March 2017 with the signing of the lease agreement.
Over the years, customer and employee needs and the demands on the premises have changed, Velux writes in a media release. The company increasingly holds customer training courses and seminars at its headquarters or uses the showroom for presentations and consultations. The future headquarters in Aarburg will meet these requirements and allow a flexible space design with modern office rooms and open meeting zones for customers and employees.
Velux currently employs 70 people in Switzerland - all business units will move to the new location. Velux was founded in 1941 in Denmark by Villum Kann Rasmussen and currently has more than 10,000 employees, production sites in eleven countries and sales companies in more than 35 countries.
The new building on Bahnhofstrasse in Aarburg envisages a mixed use of commercial, office and residential space. The construction project is expected to be completed in fall 2019. It is part of a development by UBS, which will place the mixed-use project ensemble "Bahnhof West" in one of its investment vehicles, the Direct Urban fund.
