Bern: Green light for WankdorfCity II
Bern's municipal council has signed the building lease agreements for WankdorfCity II with Schweizerische Mobiliar Asset Management and SBB.
The plans for the former slaughterhouse site in the north-west of Bern have been known since the beginning of 2016: Mobiliar plans to build a total of around 150 residential units, a hotel as well as service and restaurant space. SBB is building an IT service center with publicly accessible restaurant space on the first floor, where around 1,900 new jobs are to be created.
On June 5, 2016, voters in Bern approved the further development of WankdorfCity as part of a second construction phase and the associated transfer of land under building rights.
