Basel: Bayer becomes anchor tenant in Grosspeter Tower
Bayer Basel will move into eight floors in the Grosspeter Tower and occupy a total of more than 5,000 sqm of office space. CBRE brokered the lease in the project of PSP Swiss Property AG.
Bayer Basel will move into its new Grosspeter Tower location in the third quarter of 2018, according to CBRE. The chemical and pharmaceutical company already has locations nearby on Peter-Merian-Strasse. The lease to Bayer means that around half of the 11,000 sqm of office space in the high-rise is now let, CBRE says. Other tenants include "national and internationally known companies," according to the brokerage and consulting firm.
The 78-meter-high Grosspeter Tower, named after the area of the same name in Basel's St. Alban district, is located near the Basel SBB train station. The highway exit in the direction of Zurich also passes by the high-rise building. A special feature of the building is a photovoltaic system of around 6,000 square meters integrated into the facade. The six-story base of the building, which is 22 stories high in total, houses an Ibis Styles business hotel.
From CBRE's point of view, the tower is one of the few new buildings in Basel that offer "contemporary and flexibly designable office space" on the market. The real estate consulting firm is responsible for leasing the office space in the Grosspeter Tower.
