Cham: Architectural procedure for Papieri site begins
In January 2018, the listed Cham Paper Group will launch two architectural study commissioning procedures for the first two stages of the Papieri site development.
With the concentration on development and sales activities and the withdrawal from paper production in Switzerland, space was created for something new on the factory site in the center of Cham (ZG). The Cham Paper Group is developing an eleven-hectare district there, the Papieri-Areal.
Residential, commercial and service areas are created
In the first two stages of the development, a total of around 80 condominiums and 130 rental apartments as well as 30 affordable housing units will be realized in a staggered manner, which together with approximately 9,000 sqm of service and commercial space are expected to be ready for occupancy from 2021.
For each of the two stages, five invited architectural firms will develop concrete project proposals. After the summer vacations in 2018, the best contributions will be selected so that the corresponding building applications can then be prepared and submitted to the authorities.
Own real estate company founded
The prerequisite for this next step in the development of the site was created by the approval of the development plan and the rezoning of the Papieri site by the cantonal government of Zug in October 2017. The electorate gave the green light in September 2016.
Cham Paper Group Schweiz AG also announces that it transferred the entire Real Estate division to its subsidiary Cham Immobilien AG, Cham, by means of an asset transfer agreement at the beginning of October 2017.
