Baloise Park: Porr Suisse awarded total contractor contracts

Baloise has awarded the total contractor contracts for the two office buildings of its major Baloise Park project. The buildings, designed by architects Diener & Diener and Valerio Olgiati, will be built by Porr Suisse.

Basel architects Diener & Diener designed the eight-story building in Baloise Park South - it will be the new headquarters of the Baloise Group. A special effect of the glass and concrete façade is the high window panes, which are rounded off towards the square. Behind the window fronts are two floors each.

An office building designed by Graubünden architect Valerio Olgiati is being built on the Baloise Park East construction site. This building made of brown exposed concrete creates a link between the new buildings of the Baloise Park and the existing Basler Schweiz building. The two office properties, which will be used primarily by Baloise itself after completion, are being built by Porr Suisse AG as the total contractor.

Steiner AG has won the total contractor contract for the first major construction phase of the large-scale development. It is building the high-rise designed by Basel architects Miller & Maranta, which will house a five-star Mövenpick hotel with 264 rooms, conference center, restaurants and ballroom, as well as - on the top seven floors - office space. A total of around 1,300 workplaces will be created in the new buildings, half of which are to be leased. Completion is targeted by 2020.
