First company settlement for "Werkmatt Uri
Kässbohrer Schweiz AG will move its headquarters to the "Werkmatt Uri". It is the first settlement on the commercial area in Altdorf, informs the Department of Economic Affairs Uri.
Kässbohrer, a family-owned company originating from Germany, will locate its administration, sales, service, training, final assembly and production of special vehicles in Altdorf. Until now, the company has served the Swiss market for snow groomers from Möriken (AG) with branches in Chur and Sion, but was looking for a new location because of the long distances to the end customers. This has now been found with the "Werkmatt Uri" in Altdorf.
On December 7, 2017, the purchase agreement was signed between the company and the canton of Uri for the acquisition of an approximately 6,000 sqm industrial land parcel in the "Werkmatt Uri". For the decision, on the one hand, the availability of well-developed industrial land and, on the other hand, the proximity to related companies from the winter sports technology sector played a role, according to a joint media release. "For us, the location in the 'Werkmatt Uri' is ideal. Thanks to the central location, we will in future be able to reach the entire customer base in a maximum of 2.5 hours," says Remo Bulgheroni, Managing Director of Kässbohrer Switzerland.
As soon as Kässbohrer has received the building permit for its new headquarters, detailed planning and construction will begin. The aim is to move into the new building in summer 2019.
The "Werkmatt Uri" in the Eyschachen area southwest of the future Altdorf cantonal railway station is one of the last large land reserves on the Uri valley floor. The twelve-hectare site is located between the railroad tracks and the A2 Gotthard freeway and is accessed by a railroad track.
