Start of construction for Mario Bottas Thermalbald in sight
The building permit for the new thermal baths in Baden, designed by architect Mario Botta, has been in place since spring 2015; the first official groundbreaking ceremony took place in January 2017. The realization of the project has been a long time coming, but construction is now scheduled to start at the beginning of March.
A year ago, the first official groundbreaking ceremony was held for the thermal baths in Baden designed by Mario Botta. But after the preparatory work for construction was completed, i.e. the old thermal baths, Römerbad and Staadhof were demolished, nothing happened for a long time. Now, at a recent information event for residents of the Bäderquartier, it was announced that construction on the Botta baths will start on March 5 and that the formal ground-breaking ceremony for the thermal baths and the planned residential and medical center will take place on April 17. As reported by "Schweiz am Wochenende", the building owner Verenahof AG and the general contractor HRS Real Estate have agreed on these dates; the financial details had already been settled by contract on December 21 last year.
Construction is estimated to take around two and a half years; if everything goes according to plan, the Botta pool is scheduled to open in September 2020.
According to reports, the operator of the thermal spa, the Bad Zurzach and Baden Foundation, expects 500,000 guests per year; for the private clinic, an occupancy rate of around 85 percent is anticipated.
