Winterthur: SWICA invests in the locomotive town

Implenia has won over the Winterthur healthcare organization SWICA as an investor in the newly emerging Lokstadt district. Together with the investor, Implenia is developing the "Bigboy" high-rise residential building on site 1. The investment volume is around CHF 80 million.

With SWICA, Implenia has gained an investor with strong regional roots for the "Bigboy" high-rise residential building. The building will be directly adjacent to the future Dialogplatz. An architectural competition for construction site 1 is currently underway; the projects submitted are expected to be judged in collaboration with the city of Winterthur in July 2018, says Implenia.

The development of the "Krokodil" house is somewhat further advanced. In the building, non-profit space for living and working is being created together with two Winterthur cooperatives and an investment foundation; the foundation stone for this building - the first of the new district - is to be laid this spring. Implenia plans to start marketing the condominiums in the "Krokodil" in the coming weeks.

The overall Lokstadt project (formerly known as "Sulzerareal Werk 1") will be realized according to the SIA energy efficiency path. It is also set to become the first certified 2,000-watt site in Winterthur
