Basel: Former Roche tennis court to be built over
The Rimmobas investment foundation is planning a residential development with around 170 apartments on the Eisenbahnweg site in Kleinbasel. For many years, the site east of the Schwarzwaldbrücke bridge and between Grenzacherstrasse and Eisenbahnweg was home to a Roche tennis court.

The site has lain fallow since 2009; originally, an underground parking lot with 580 parking spaces was to be built there together with the construction projects on the southern Roche site. However, these plans were not pursued further.
In 2016, the Rimmobas investment foundation then took over the site from Roche and now wants to realize the "Alice in Wonderland" project by Buchner Bründler Architekten from Basel. The planned development consists of an elongated high-rise building with twelve floors and a height of 39 meters along Grenzacherstrasse and a lower annex with five floors and a height of 18 meters against the Schwarzwaldbrücke. The buildings are designed to shield noise from the highway and from the tracks.
The range of apartments is tailored to the mid-market segment. According to current plans, the building will comprise 172 rental apartments ranging from 1.5 to 5.5 rooms, of which around 45 will be furnished apartments and three apartments for shared apartments for eight to ten people each. There is also space for a café and a kiosk on the first floor.
In addition to the building's own approximately 80 parking spaces, three additional basement levels with approximately 370 parking spaces are planned for Roche.
The project requires a development plan and a change in building lines.
