Opfikon: Topping-out ceremony for ABZ housing estate in Glattpark
On April 23, 2018, the topping-out ceremony was celebrated for an ABZ cooperative housing development in Glattpark in Opfikon. Owner ABZ is realizing the project with Pool Architekten, Studio Vulkan Landschaftsarchitektur and the total contractor HRS Real Estate.

The new ABZ housing estate with 294 apartments is being built not far from the TV studio streetcar stop and at the entrance to Opfikerpark overlooking Lake Glattpark. According to the information provided, a total of living space for around 800 people is being created, with the housing mix ranging from 1.5- to 8.5-room apartments. Around 20 small apartments are reserved for seniors aged 65 and over.
The first floors of the buildings are intended for public uses, such as commercial space, studios and childcare. There are to be restaurants at Siriusplatz.
The project meets the target values of Minergie-P-Eco and the 2,000-watt society. A photovoltaic system is planned on the roofs.
According to HRS, ABZ expects to be able to rent out a large proportion of the apartments on the open market. Based on cost rent, a 4.5-room apartment is expected to cost CHF 1,670 to 1,770 per month, including utilities. The occupation of the space will take place in stages and is planned for summer/fall 2018.
