There will be some changes among the retail tenants at Bern station. Among others, the restaurant Tibits is expanding, while Swatch is giving up its branch.

According to SBB, the Côté Sud restaurant on the south side of the station in the direction of Bahnhofplatz will close at the end of June. Its successor will be the Tibits restaurant, which will also take over Sherpa Outdoor's space on the gallery floor as well as an outdoor area previously used for special sales. From July, the areas will be converted, and the opening of the expanded Tibits is planned for the end of 2018.

Already at the beginning of June, Confiserie Sprüngli, which has its branch opposite the existing Tibits, will close. Florian Caffé & Bar will move in there. Sprüngli, meanwhile, is moving to the new glass pavilion on the railroad level. Sprüngli will share the space there with Blumen Ackermann.

The new pavilion is slightly larger than the previous one, which is currently occupied by Blumen Ackermann and Swatch. Demolition and new construction work is expected to last from early June to fall 2018. Swatch will withdraw from Bern station, and Blumen Ackermann will give up its current main store on the city floor when the new pavilion opens. The space there has already been put out to tender, according to SBB.

The Migros takeaway on the railroad floor will be closed and remodeled from the end of June, while the Migros supermarket on the upper floor will be expanded by around 100 square meters in late summer. Starbucks plans to redesign its branch in the station and is therefore expected to close it from mid-July to early August 2018.

According to SBB, construction permits are currently pending for most of these projects.
