Bern: Is a "Kirchenfeld Museum Quarter" on the way?

The Burgergemeinde Bern, the canton and the city of Bern have commissioned a feasibility study for a "Kirchenfeld Museum Quarter". The results should be available in the fall.

The feasibility study is intended to show how the space between the Bern History Museum, the Swiss Shooting Museum, the Bern Natural History Museum and the Museum of Communication could be used as part of an overall perspective of all the museums in Kirchenfeld, the Bern History Museum writes in a statement.

The trigger for the considerations was the search for a suitable location for a central depot of the Bernisches Historisches Museum. During the evaluation, it became clear that the ideal location would be the museum's own property in Kirchenfeld. At the same time, the modernization and renovation of the old museum building is pending, and so the idea arose to bundle the various museums in the Kirchenfeld into a museum quarter.
