CitizenM will open its microhotel in Zurich in the Talacker 42 property. The property is owned by the UBS Sima real estate fund, which invests half in residential and half in commercial buildings.

According to UBS Asset Management Real Estate, citizenM will operate a 160-room hotel in the building. The first floor will feature a guest zone with a living room, lounge and bar, as well as conference and meeting rooms. The rooms will be distributed over the first to fifth floors.

The Dutch hotel chain CitizenM prefers to open its sites in top locations. While the public areas of the hotels are generously furnished, the rooms themselves tend to be small and designed to save space. The chain's first property opened in 2008 at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam, and since then it has added locations in London, New York, Paris and Taipei, among others.
