Zurich: Greencity continues to grow
In Zurich South, the construction cranes continue to turn: On June 20, construction work began on the Pergamin building, marking the start of the third construction phase of the sustainable Greencity neighborhood.

With the starting signal for the Pergamin II building, construction of the third stage has begun in the sustainable Greencity urban district in Zurich South. This consists of three office buildings, a hotel and the public school. Meanwhile, the second stage is nearing completion. The first stage is already fully occupied - currently around 1,000 people already live in Greencity.
Losinger Marazzi is realizing the Pergamin II office building as a total contractor on behalf of CSA Real Estate Switzerland (CSA RES), an investment group of Credit Suisse Investment Foundation. According to the company, the commercial and service building, located at the northern head of the quarter, will offer approximately 12,000 sqm of main usable space upon completion. It was designed by Paris-based architecture firm Architecture-Studio and meets the specifications of the international LEED Core & Shell Platinum label. The name of the building, a type of paper, is a reminder of the area's past as the site of the Sihl paper mill.
The anchor tenant of Pergamin II has already been determined: On approx. 7,250 sqm (approx. 60% of the area), the Organization of the Working World Health Zurich (OdA-G-ZH) will move in with a course center for the inter-company courses of the healthcare industry and its Higher Technical School for Intensive, Emergency and Anesthesia Care (Z-INA). Around 700 students will complete job-specific and practice-oriented training and continuing education courses in the new building from the beginning of 2020. A total of 35 classrooms with beds will be available, as well as an auditorium with around 120 seats. In addition to the CSA RES investment group, CSL Immobilien also played a key role in the settlement of OdA-G-ZH.
Soon start of construction for the new hotel building
Together with Pergamin I (around 15,000 square meters of usable space), Pergamin II forms the entrance gate to Greencity from downtown Zurich. Both buildings have eleven floors and are around 40 meters high. Shortly after the start of construction on Pergamin II, work will also begin on the seven-story Ingres building designed by Zurich-based architects Gigon/Guyer, where the German Meininger Group will open its first hotel in Switzerland. The hotel will have around 170 rooms and approximately 600 beds.
Greencity's service cluster, which can hold up to 3,000 jobs, is dominated by the Vergé building by JSWD Architects, Colognewith around 17,000 square meters of main floor space. The third stage will focus on health and care. In addition to OdA-G-ZH, key tenants and uses from the medical consulting and rehabilitation/fitness sectors are emerging. Also part of the third stage is the public elementary school, which the city of Zurich will build by 2023 according to plans by the architectural firm Studio Burkhardt, Zurich, and Pirmin Jung Holzbauingenieure AG, Rain, realized.
