Groundbreaking ceremony for Stadler and HIAG project in St. Margrethen
The groundbreaking ceremony for Stadler Rail's new production plant on the HIAG main site in St. Margrethen (SG) has taken place.

Stadler will relocate the production and competence center for double-deck operating trains, which was previously located in Altenrhein (SG), to the approximately 70,000 square meter site directly at the train station in St. Margrethen (SG).
After the rezoning, the development plan and the building permit became legally binding, the groundbreaking ceremony was held on July 4, 2018. The construction phase for the new production plant is expected to last until 2020.
HIAG, as the land owner, considers the continuation of the industrial history with Stadler on the former timber industry main site as an "important contribution to the economic development of the region".
