Lake Constance region: Construction starts on new shopping center in Singen
A new magnet for shopping tourists is being built near the border. ECE will start construction work on its new Cano shopping center in downtown Singen in mid-July.

Cano is scheduled to open in 2020. The shopping center will comprise three retail levels with up to 85 specialty stores and a total of 16,000 sqm of sales space. According to ECE, one focus will be on fashion. A food court is planned for the top floor, and restaurants and cafés with outdoor access will be located on the first floor. Above the retail levels, there will be two floors with around 500 car parking spaces.
First, the existing buildings on Bahnhofstrasse between Thurgauer Strasse and Alpenstrasse will be demolished, followed from mid-August by the demolition of the buildings in the area of August-Ruf-Strasse and Hegaustrasse. The start of the structural work - and thus the structural engineering for the actual building - is scheduled for fall of this year.
According to earlier information from ECE, around 370,000 Germans and around 200,000 Swiss live in the center's catchment area.
