Zug: Siemens Campus is ready for occupancy
The first employees are moving into their new workplaces at the Siemens Campus in Zug these days. The German industrial group has invested CHF 250 million in the project.
The Siemens Campus is being built on the northern Siemens site between Feldstrasse, Nordstrasse and Theilerstrasse. It consists of two new buildings - an office building and a factory - and another building that will be modernized in 2021. It will house the company's research and development department. Zug is the global headquarters of Siemens' Building Technologies Division, which employs 28,000 people worldwide.
How the Lucerne newspaper reports, the city of Zug will take over the current office building at Gubelstrasse 22 and move in there with 200 employees of the city administration. It also says that half of the local Siemens workforce will soon move into the new, seven-story office building. Around one-third of the 18,400 square meters of office space will be leased to external parties; one of the tenants is Stoxx, a subsidiary of Deutsche Börse.
The three-story, 18,000-square-meter production building with around 350 employees will not go into operation until November, and the final expansion step will follow in 2022, when the 450 employees in research and development will move into the renovated building.
