The buildings damaged by the fire are the two renovation properties at Bahnhofplatz 1 and Bahnhofquai 9/11/15, PSP Swiss Property said. During the night from Friday to Saturday, a fire broke out in the property at Bahnhofplatz 1, which quickly spread to the neighboring building at Bahnhofquai 9/11/15.

According to information from the city of Zurich, the building was already in full blaze when the rescue forces arrived. The fire spread rapidly from the attic. Particularly in the area of the Bahnhofquai, the fire spread to other parts of the building and caused immense damage.

The cause of the fire is unclear, according to PSP Swiss Property. According to a statement from the city of Zurich, two violent explosions occurred in the building, and at least one piece of debris was hurled about 200 meters through the air. In the course of the initial investigations, police officers found a piece of metal weighing about two kilograms from a gas cylinder on Bahnhofstrasse. According to the findings of the police and the public prosecutor's office, there are no concrete indications of a crime.

PSP Swiss Property first wants to clarify construction-related issues and then inform about further findings and the next steps for the renovation project at Bahnhofplatz 1. The property has been under total renovation since June 2017. High-quality offices and coworking lounges were to be set up in the space, there is already a long-term lease agreement with coworking provider No18. (ah)
