Steinhausen: Crypto site to become residential and commercial quarter

Peikert Immobilien Projekte AG from Zug wants to develop the approximately 31,000 sqm site of the IT company Crypto AG in Steinhausen (ZG) into an area with residential and commercial space.

The basis for the development will be an urban planning competition among qualified teams of architects, who will develop the best design concept in several stages according to a requirements program coordinated with the Steinhausen community, Peikert announced. A participation process is planned parallel to the urban planning. In a first workshop, Peikert wants to invite representatives of various interest groups to contribute recommendations on the design of the future area. A second workshop will show how these recommendations have been incorporated into the planning.

Peikert added that the planning was expected to be completed in four years and the necessary permits issued. In order for apartments to be built on the site, the existing development plan would have to be cancelled and a new one issued. The zoning plan, however, is not to be changed. The realization will take place in stages and will be completed within another four years.

Meanwhile, Crypto has extended its lease with Peikert beyond the originally planned period. This allows the IT company to use the existing buildings and sports fields until the end of 2021. (ah)
