Basel: First tenants on the southern Lysbüchel site
The former Coop distribution center on the southern Lysbüchel site in Basel will be home to associations and companies from the fields of culture, sports, music and events.
Immobilien Basel-Stadt has signed letters of intent with various prospective tenants who want to take over larger spaces at Elsässerstrasse 209 and 215 as main tenants, the canton of Basel-Stadt says. These include the Alevi Cultural Association, BandSpace, Eventzentrale GmbH and Boulderpension GmbH. Talks are underway with other interested parties. Currently, structural and planning issues are still being clarified, and the conclusion of the lease agreements is expected to take until spring 2019.
In the former Coop distribution center on the Lysbüchel site (VoltaNord), space is to be created for commerce and culture at affordable rents. However, interest in rental space from the commercial sector has been very small, according to the canton. Currently, Immobilien Basel-Stadt is in talks with only one interested commercial party.
On the entire Lysbüchel site, the currently underused industrial and freight area is to be developed into an urban quarter. Areas that are little used today will be densified, and new residential space will also be created. (ah)
