The station in Bümpliz Nord in the west of Bern is used by more than 4,000 travelers per day. BLS is converting it to make it barrier-free from 2021 and is also developing the entire 5,300 square meter area around the station. The "Cerniera - Scharnier" project by Zurich-based architects Armon Semadeni is to be realized.

The first two of a total of four buildings will be constructed between the current station building and the new "Cosmos" development of the Previs pension fund by 2024. Two further buildings will follow between 2025 and 2040 further to the west and on the site of the station building. BLS is planning a mixture of living and working space in the four buildings. According to the company, a total of around 160 apartments of various sizes in the mid-price segment are planned. Stores and cafés are to liven up the station on the first floors and in the widened pedestrian underpass. BLS Immobilien estimates the total investment at around CHF 80 million.

Bern Bümpliz Nord is one of six sites currently being developed by BLS Immobilien AG. These are centrally located areas that are no longer required for rail operations.
