Lucerne: Switzerland's first capsule hotel is being built
Lucerne's new Hirschengraben coworking space + innovation will also be home to Switzerland's first Japanese-style capsule hotel. It is scheduled to open in November.

The Capsule Hotel at Hirschengraben 40 will include 19 sleeping capsules, sanitary facilities and a living room with kitchenette, the initiators announce on their website. It is located on the 5th floor of the Hirschengraben coworking and innovation space.
Capsule hotels are widespread in Japan and arose from the need for cheap accommodation in cities with a great lack of space. The Lucerne Capsule Hotel is intended to offer an alternative to shared rooms in hostels, because each capsule can be closed, has, among other things, fast Internet, power connections, a safe and ventilation.
The new accommodation is part of a coworking space with 26 workstations that opened in early October. According to the initiators, it is the first coworking space in Lucerne. (ah)
