Bern: SV Hotel plans two new houses
The hotel group SV Hotel plans to open two new hotels in Bern's WankdorfCity by 2020: A Moxy Hotel and a first hotel under SV Hotel's own brand with an "extended stay concept".
The reason for the investment is the positive development of the hotel market in Bern, SV Hotel explained in a press release. The city has been experiencing rising demand for overnight accommodation for years, and the trend shows that city tourism will continue to grow.
SV Hotel will open a new Moxy Hotel with 130 rooms in the WankdorfCity district by the beginning of 2020, and the group also intends to launch a new own brand aimed at long-term travelers. The company already runs the traditional La Pergola hotel in Bern. In the last three years, turnover has increased by 25 percent and room occupancy has risen from 65.8 to 82.6 percent, according to SV Hotel.
SV Hotel is part of the SV Group based in Dübendorf (ZH), which is active in the fields of community catering, hotels, public catering, hospital and home catering and event catering. As a franchisee, SV Hotel operates the Marriott brands Courtyard, Residence Inn, Renaissance and Moxy in Switzerland and Germany. The portfolio also includes La Pergola in Bern and Amaris in Olten.
