Basel: Canton wants to sell "Rheinhof

The Canton of Basel-Stadt is looking for a new user for the "Rheinhof" property at St. Alban-Vorstadt 25/27, which until now was the headquarters of the Health Department.

The property "Rheinhof" consists of a representative main house, a coachman's house and a courtyard. The main house comprises 31 rooms and about 1,200 sqm. The property was built in the middle of the 19th century by the Basel architect Melchior Berri and is a listed building.

The health department will relocate its headquarters in the coming year, and the canton therefore wants to transfer the property in building rights and make it available for a new use. Due to its size and infrastructure, it is very well suited as a representative company headquarters or as a residential building in which living and working can be combined, according to the canton. The tender deliberately leaves the future use open. The sale is being accompanied by Engel & Völkers. (ah)
