St. Gallen: Ibis opens hotel in Vier Winkel development
According to a media report, the Ibis hotel chain will open a 104-room hotel in the Vier Winkel development near the St. Fiden train station.
The Vier Winkel development, a project by Mettler2Invest , has been under construction in St. Fiden since July. By 2020, around 8,000 sqm of commercial space will be created, divided over six floors. How the St. Galler Tagblatt reportsThe first and largest tenant, Ibis, has now been confirmed. The hotel chain is planning an "Ibis Styles" hotel with 104 rooms. This means that the hotel will occupy more than half of the total rental space of the development - around 5,800 square meters including underground parking.
Project manager Jörg Nellen told the newspaper that Mettler2Invest had not actively sought a hotel company for the superstructure. The French Accor Group, to which Ibis belongs, had expressed interest on its own. Otherwise, Vier Winkel is mainly aimed at office tenants such as financial service providers, marketing agencies or insurance companies.
Ibis is not yet represented in eastern Switzerland. St. Gallen is an up-and-coming city, which is why the company is taking the opportunity to open its first location here, quotes the St. Galler Tagblatt an Accor spokesman. (ah)
