Lucerne: Maxi Bazar moves into the Schild building
According to a media report, the retail chain Maxi Bazar will open a branch in Lucerne's Old Town in spring 2019 - where the Schild fashion store is currently located.
Like 20 minutes reports, Maxi Bazar will open a department store in the Balthasarhaus at Kramgasse 2 next spring. Currently, the building houses the Schild fashion store on five floors. However, the location will close in early February 2019, 20 Minuten reported, citing Globus, which owns Schild. Globus operates a department store on Pilatusstrasse and a fashion store on Falkenplatz in Lucerne in addition to Schild. A review of the locations had shown that the catchment area for three stores at the Lucerne site was too small.
To date, Maxi Bazar operates 38 stores in France and 29 in Switzerland. The French company usually offers products in its stores that are otherwise rarely or never found in city centers, such as handicraft items or hardware. (ah)
