Zug: Gewoba takes over old town properties
The Gewoba housing cooperative is taking over the properties at Knopfliweg 4/6 in the old town of Zug from the city in building rights. It undertakes to renovate the historic buildings in a professional manner.

The exact age of the two buildings on Knopfliweg in the "Dorf" district, located directly on the city wall, is unknown. They are probably several hundred years old, according to the city of Zug, which owns the properties.
Since the buildings, including a three-story apartment building, need extensive renovation, the city decided to give them away in building rights. The tender was won by Gewoba, a Zug-based cooperative for non-profit housing. According to the city of Zug, Gewoba will be granted building rights to the properties for a period of 80 years and will pay a reduced building lease rate in return, in order to support the goals of affordable housing construction. Gewoba has undertaken to renovate the buildings professionally in cooperation with the cantonal preservation authority. (ah)
