Frauenfeld: New use for city barracks

As soon as the first stage of expansion of the Waffenplatz area in Frauenfeld's Auenfeld district is completed, the city barracks will no longer be needed by the defense department and will be freed up for civilian use. The area around the listed barracks is around 14,000 square meters.

According to the city of Frauenfeld, the future design plan is now to be drawn up and the modalities for a takeover of the site by the city are to be prepared. Since 2014, studies and idea competitions have been carried out with Armasuisse Immobilien for this purpose, which form the basis for the preparation of a development plan that defines the future civilian use.
