The two projects are planned independently of each other, but are being built on a plot of around 18,400 square meters in Viols above the bathing lake in Savognin. Panorama Development from Chur is responsible for the development of a four-star hotel, while RESalpina GmbH, based in Breil, is developing a vacation resort aimed in particular at families. According to Tourismus Savognin Bivio Albula, the total investment volume for the realization of the two projects amounts to around CHF 50 to 60 million.

The planned hotel will have 108 rooms with around 240 beds as well as various restaurants and a wellness area. The operator is Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, part of the Accor Group, which intends to open its first mountain resort in Europe in Savognin. The investment sum for the realization of the hotel is estimated at around 28 million according to the current planning status. The opening is planned for the turn of the year 2020/21.

The vacation resort will consist of a company building and five houses with a total of around 80 residential units. The 2.5 to 5-room apartments will have a total of around 460 beds. A spa and wellness area is also planned for the resort. The project developer already operates the Pradas resort in Breil. The investment costs are expected to amount to around 33 million. The resort is set to open in 2021.

At its most recent municipal meeting on March 18, 2019, the municipality of Surses approved the applications for support from the two project developers. Subsidies of up to 1.4 million for the construction of the hotel and up to 1.65 million for the vacation resort were approved. In addition, the purchase rights for the required land areas were granted. (ah)
