Zug: Freight station area to become a quarter
The site of the former freight station in Zug is to be developed into a neighborhood. The city wants SBB to provide a "diverse mix of uses".
The Zug City Council and SBB want to realize a development with a diverse, urban mix of uses on the Güterbahnhof site - including areas for affordable housing as well as services and commerce. In the coming months, the city and SBB plan to work out the exact planning and participation process.
According to the city council, the development plan for the first of four sub-areas, the Kirschloh site, is already well advanced. At the end of 2022, the city must vacate the site to make way for a new development to be built by the SBB. (ah)
