Aarau: Aeschbachquartier is opened
The Aeschbachquartier in Aarau, a project development by Mobimo, has now been officially opened. Around 1,000 jobs and living space for 600 people have been created on the former industrial wasteland.
According to Mobimo, a total of CHF 268 million has been invested in the site near the Aarau train station. Among other things, the Polygon office building, in which the Rockwell company has taken a lease, the GastroSocial high-rise and several residential and commercial buildings have been built. There are 92 condominiums and 167 rental apartments on the site. The occupancy rate of the apartments and commercial spaces is 80% and 70%, respectively, a few weeks after the completion of construction, the statement added. All but three of the condominium apartments have been sold.
In the course of the site development, the listed Aeschbachhalle from 1910 was also renovated; it covers around 2,700 square meters. The art nouveau Oehler factory owner's villa houses a crèche.
The Aeschbach Quarter is the first Swiss quarter to be awarded the Gold Certificate of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). (ah)
