The InnHub La Punt was initiated by Mia Engadina and is to become an innovation and meeting center for the entire Engadin. A public atrium, work and seminar rooms, serviced apartments, stores for local products, a new guest information center, a center for medicine and sports, a café, and an underground parking garage are planned for an area of a good 7,000 square meters. According to the initiators, among others, the running shoe manufacturer On and the software group Microsoft have already agreed to use the infrastructure of the new center.

Norman Foster was chosen as the architect for the development, whose design combines elements of the traditional Engadine house and the Engadine landscape. The large, single-story ensemble will be designed with local materials and covered with larch shingles.

While the construction of the 40-million project is to be financed by investors, a "corporate form with a cooperative character is envisaged for the operation of the InnHub, in which locals can participate just as much as guests of the place," according to Mia Engadina.

For the construction of the InnHub La Punt, some buildings in the Truochs/La Resgia area have to make way. This includes the vacation home of the YMCA, but it would have been closed in the next few years anyway.

The community assembly of La Punt Chamues-ch has now approved the building lease agreement. The next step will be the amendment of the neighborhood plan by the municipal council. In a second referendum in the fall, the community will finally vote on an amendment to the zoning plan. If everything goes smoothly, the InnHub could open as early as the end of 2021. (ah)
