Basel: Foundation stone for the Claraturm is laid
The foundation stone for the Claraturm was laid on May 13. The high-rise building on Basel's Messeplatz is a project of the UBS Sima real estate fund.
The planning for the Riehenring development in Basel goes back many years: twelve years ago, the well-known architectural firm of Morger Dettli (now Morger Partner) won the competition, and six years ago the voters of Basel approved the development plan. Now the foundation stone for the Claraturm has been laid. The development is scheduled for completion in 2021.
Next to the 96-meter-high tower, a 20-meter-high annex will be built. A total of 30,000 square meters of gross floor area will be created. A total of 285 rental apartments will be built, as well as commercial and restaurant space on the first floor. Three basement levels will house a car parking garage and bicycle parking spaces. The top floor will be open to the public.
The investor in the CHF 96 million project is the UBS real estate fund Sima. Halter AG is acting as total contractor and is also responsible for marketing. (ah)
