Zurich: The Circle gets a large park
An 80,000-square-meter park is opening at Zurich Airport at the same time as The Circle major project. Flughafen Zürich AG has announced the first details.
A local recreation area for visitors, employees, residents and passengers is being created on an 80,000 square meter green area directly at the airport. The costs are around CHF 15 million. A project by Studio Vulkan Landscape Architecture is being implemented.
The park is primarily designed as a recreation and meeting place, writes Flughafen Zürich AG in a statement. The existing forest, meadows and wetlands will be reactivated and made accessible to visitors.
A "sky platform" with a water feature will be implemented at the highest point in the park. The park lift will take visitors from The Circle in just over two minutes directly to one of the two trail systems, the Panorama Trail, which is paved to the highest point in the park. In addition to the sky platform, there will also be a place where smaller events can be held. Places and clearings in the forest will be created at different locations and, for example, a forest playground or an outdoor gym will be set up. (ah)
