Bülach: Work on the Bülachguss site progresses
In Bülach (ZH), work is underway on the Bülachguss site. A new quarter is being built here with more than 400 residential units and space for offices and commerce.
The former industrial site of Bülachguss is 55,000 square meters in size; Allreal is developing a quarter here with 416 rental and owner-occupied apartments, office and commercial space, stores and a publicly accessible park.
The main building on the site, the old fettling shop, will be largely retained and will serve as a meeting place in the new quarter. The architects Itten + Brechbühl are responsible for the renovation, and the facade builder Aepli Metallbau has been commissioned with construction work. The client is Credit Suisse.
The filigree window fronts of the former factory building were faithfully reproduced, Aepli Metallbau reports. The mullion-transom elements were prefabricated in the factory and two of these elements were joined together on site to form one large element. In addition, some areas of the façade were fitted with opaque glass; this is intended to emphasize the original character of the hall. The facade is equipped with special sound insulation and also complies with the Minergie-Eco standard. (ah)
