St. Gallen: Residential project for the Stadtsäge site
Previs Vorsorge is planning a residential development for up to 280 people on the Stadtsäge site in St. Gallen. Their project won the study contract.

The 1.2 hectare Stadtsäge site is located on Steingrüeblistrasse and is owned by the local citizens' municipality of St. Gallen, which is granting the site in building rights.
Within the framework of a study commission procedure, the local citizens' municipality decided in favour of the Klafter project of the bidding consortium with Previs Vorsorge, Galli Rudolf Architekten, Westpol Landschaftsarchitekten, Häring Holzbau and Halter as development partners.
The Klafter project fits very well into the surroundings of the existing buildings and convinces with a very good urban development solution, according to the local citizens' municipality. The focus of the residential development is on offering housing for students, but there will also be living space for families and senior citizens.
Areas for innovative forms of housing are also planned, as well as service companies and restaurants. Around 280 people are expected to live on the Stadtsäge site one day. Previs wants to engage an operator for the student apartments who will take over the renting, cleaning and furnishing of the residential units.
The Citizens' Council has announced that it will draw up a building lease agreement with Previs Vorsorge. The citizens' meeting on 9 December 2019 still has to approve the deal. If everything goes smoothly, the development will be completed by the end of 2023. Previs anticipates an investment of CHF 50 million. (ah)
