Zurich: SBB plans replacement building at main station
At Limmatstrasse 23 to 25, right next to Zurich's main train station, SBB Immobilien is planning a residential and commercial development.
Elvetino is currently still located in the two buildings on Limmatstrasse. The logistics of the rail catering company has already been relocated to Zurich's main station, and the office workplaces will move to Zurich-Altstetten in the Westlink building later this year, according to SBB Immobilien.
The buildings, dating from 1960 and 1981, are expected to be demolished from the beginning of 2021, SBB Immobilien says. A new building is planned with public-oriented services on the first floor, a total of 1,100 square meters of office and service space, and 34 1.5- to 3.5-room apartments and studios with a landscaped community terrace. The new building is to achieve the "DGNB Silver" sustainability standard.
The building application is planned for the fall of this year, with construction to begin in the first quarter of 2021. According to SBB Immobilien, the company is investing around CHF 17 million in the new replacement building. (ah)
