Berne: Swisscom Tower becomes residential tower
In the former Swisscom Tower in Bern, from 1994 to 2014 the headquarters for research and development of the telecommunications group, 90 apartments are to be built.

The Swisscom Tower at Ostermundigenstrasse 93 in Bern is being converted into a residential building. As reported by "Der Bund", the high-rise building on the Galgenfeld now belongs to Reiber GmbH in Geneva, which in turn belongs to various Luxembourg companies. Responsible for the management of the company and thus for the conversion of the Swisscom tower is the private Geneva-based real estate company Reinvest Capital around the Geneva real estate developers Dan Meyer and Tamer Amr.
Reinvest Capital wants to transform the 75-meter-high building into 90 rental apartments; 500 square meters of former office space are available per floor for this purpose. According to media reports, the building application was recently submitted. Potential tenants can look at the Webpage high-rise.be Proposals to choose the size of the apartment. According to Reinvest Capital, 400 interested parties took advantage of the option to "help design the apartments" within six weeks. This had shown that the 2.5-room and 5.5-room apartments were the most popular.
Since the end of 2017, the office tower has been available for interim uses, which are scheduled until mid-June 2020. After the conversion into a residential tower, there will be a bistro for residents and a gym with a small swimming pool on the roof terrace on the 17th floor. There will also be a concierge in the entrance area, a daycare center and a bicycle repair station in the basement. The conversion is expected to take two years; according to "Der Bund", the investment volume is likely to be in the "higher double-digit millions". (bw/mr)
