Steffisburg: Building application for Gschwend site
The building application for the planned HRS project on the Gschwend site in Steffisburg (BE) has been published and made available to the public.
A modern development with a mix of housing and shopping is planned on Dükerweg in Steffisburg in the Thun administrative district of the canton of Bern. The citizens had already approved the zone with planning obligation at a community meeting in September 2016. The land owners are HRS Real Estate AG and the Migros Aare cooperative. Plans call for 39 condominiums and 109 rental apartments and a shopping center with 5,000 square meters of retail space.
On May 8 of this year, the building application was submitted to the municipality for preliminary review. In addition, the investors and representatives of the municipality of Steffisburg presented the project to the public at a public information event. No objections were received when the building regulations were issued. The first preparatory construction measures on the Gschwend site had begun in mid-2018.
Without further delays, the developers expect the project to be completed by 2021, with an investment of around 90 million Swiss francs. The office of Aebi & Vincent Architekten SIA AG (Bern) is responsible for the architecture; the site area for the project in Steffisburg covers 17,000 square meters.
