Ostermundigen: HRS is planning a development near the railway station
HRS Real Estate wants to build a service building on the former Acifer site near Ostermundigen train station.
According to a statement by the Ostermundigen municipality, HRS Real Estate and Nemaco want to construct a service building between the railroad embankment and Poststrasse that will offer space for offices, gastronomy, culture, sales and commerce. One anchor tenant has already been determined: The Touring Club Schweiz (TCS) plans to consolidate its previous administrative locations in German-speaking Switzerland as a long-term tenant in parts of the new building from 2021.
In addition to office space, the building will also have public-oriented uses, such as retail and restaurant space on the first floor, the statement added. The building will be up to 100 meters long and a maximum of 30 meters high and will provide space for around 650 workplaces. The site is well served by public transport via Ostermundigen station, several bus routes and, from 2028, the new streetcar. An independent design advisory board has been appointed.
Following the preliminary examination by the canton, the Ostermundigen municipal council has released the Poststrasse South development plan for public circulation, the statement continues. "For Ostermundigen, the present site development Poststrasse South represents a great opportunity," said Thomas Iten, president of the municipality. The project offers a dense, high-quality urban solution for the former industrial site, which has been lying fallow for a long time. The municipal parliament will decide on the matter at the end of October. (ah)
