Basel: Cooperative apartments for the Lysbüchel site
Around 200 cooperative apartments are to be built on construction site 4 of the Lysbüchel site. This was decided by the Basel government council.
The government council wants to give away building plot 4 on the Lysbüchel site, which is owned by the canton of Basel-Stadt, under building rights. New cooperative apartments are to be built there, according to a statement.
Building site 4 is directly adjacent to the residential area of the St. Johann quarter and is to continue this in the future. According to the government council, there is a potential of around 200 new apartments.
In addition to the cooperative apartments on construction site 4, construction sites 3 and 5, which also belong to the canton, are to include a primary school building and the Elsässerstrasse culture and trade center. The Lysbüchel site (VoltaNord) in Basel is a currently underused industrial and freight area that is to be developed into an urban quarter. Areas that are little used today will be densified, and new residential space will also be created. (ah)
