The Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts is renting two buildings on the Suurstoffi site that are connected to each other: In the wooden high-rise building, which at 60 meters is the tallest in Switzerland, the university occupies nine floors - from the first basement to the eighth floor - while it uses the second building alone. A total of 16,150 square meters are available.

The main usable area covers 12,700 square meters and is divided into offices and classrooms as well as zones for individual learning or group work. The new campus also includes a large library, a foyer with a lobby, an event forum, a roof terrace and a large cafeteria. There are currently 74 places for students to live on the site, and this number is set to rise to 100 by 2023.

The buildings will be used by the Department of Computer Science and the Institute of Financial Services Zug IFZ. In total, over 1,350 students, hundreds of continuing education participants and around 210 employees will use the premises from the start of the new academic year.

When completed, Suurstoffi will provide space for around 1,500 residents, 2,000 students and over 2,500 jobs. The investor in the site is Zug Estates AG. "The Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts is an attractive anchor tenant. It also attracts other companies and strengthens the Suurstoffi site as an innovative company location and sought-after residential neighborhood," said CEO Tobias Achermann. (ah)
