SBB has submitted a revised design concept for the Talevo development near Thalwil station following objections to the project. A total of around 5,500 square meters of residential space and 3,500 square meters of service and retail space are to be created.

During the revision of the project, the building volume in particular was reduced, according to SBB. Instead of the top full storeys, recessed attic storeys are now planned and the height of the buildings will be reduced by one meter. By extending the Passerelle Nord between Gotthardstrasse and Bahnhofstrasse and opening up the façades, a generous public passageway and view through the goods shed will be created, the statement continues. Workplaces, apartments, services and shopping facilities are planned for the goods shed.

SBB has also announced that it will rent 10% of the commercial space to small businesses, institutions or charitable projects at reduced rates. In addition, 120 bicycle and 35 motorcycle parking spaces will be created and around 25 Park&Rail parking spaces will be relocated in the immediate vicinity of the station. Bahnhofstrasse will be planted with around 30 trees and will be given the character of an avenue.

The municipal council has approved the new concept. The matter will now be referred to the municipal assembly, which is expected to discuss it in March 2020. (ah)
