Basel: Cooperative apartments to be built at Dreispitz
The canton of Basel-Stadt wants to reserve the first stage of the site development on Walkeweg near Dreispitz for housing cooperatives. The cantonal government has approved an agreement to this effect.
A building plot of around 10,000 square meters in the Walkeweg site development is to be handed over to cooperatives with building rights, which are to build around 150 affordable apartments there.
The Government Council approved a corresponding declaration of intent between the canton and the Northwestern Switzerland Regional Association of Housing Cooperatives.
According to the government council, housing cooperatives in northwestern Switzerland have agreed to build on the site with member cooperatives of the umbrella organizations. They are to build, manage and finance around 150 new cooperative apartments there in accordance with the "low cost - low energy" principle. The building lease holder must ensure that only affordable housing is built, it continues. (ah)
