An area of just under 6,000 square metres between Hauptstrasse, Poststrasse and Zentrumweg in Biberist is being built over, where a post office building and a dental practice that had been vacant for some time were previously located.

The foundation stone for the building project was laid on 17 September - with representatives of the client Basler Leben, the overall contractor Halter, the architectural firm Bachelard Wagner and the project initiator Unique Real.

Along the main road, a four to six-storey building structure comes to stand, a four-storey building block along the stream lines the natural space. Two further houses close off the courtyard to the north and west. The courtyard is to be partially landscaped and provided with seating areas and several smaller playgrounds and facilities. The village stream will be made visible in a promenade.

The new buildings will contain 102 apartments - mainly with 2.5 and 3.5 rooms - as well as 1,700 sqm of space for restaurants, retail and service outlets, and a post office is also planned. In addition, the construction project includes an underground car park with 82 parking spaces. The development is scheduled to be ready for occupancy in December 2020. (ah)
